My name is Renata Nehme, and along with the Airway Circle team members, we have helped hundreds of patients breathe better and sleep better through our myofunctional therapy practices. We have created Myo Circle because we saw a need for advanced training and support in our field. As dental hygienists and speech-language pathologists, we play a crucial role in helping patients improve their oral function and overall health.

However, we noticed that many myofunctional therapists were struggling to achieve the results they desired. They lacked the necessary foundational skills and confidence to effectively treat their patients. We wanted to change that.

What our students are saying about

Our Myofunctional Training

I feel like the amount I paid for the course was fair and I received what I invested twofold.

This course truly provided some missing pieces and amazing examples of assessments and treatment interventions. I feel like the amount I paid for the course was fair and I received what I invested two fold.

OMT is not a cookie cutter prescription and understanding how to put all the puzzle pieces together with critical thinking was something I was missing before Myo Circle.

My biggest take away was learning to critically think about the patient's symptoms once all the assessments are completed. And also knowing WHY we gather so much data prior to beginning therapy.

This course was worth every penny and minute, and I will continue to grow from its content.

This course was amazing! The information and examples provided were extremely thorough and the support is unparalleled.

The Course

40 Hours of Content Over 16 Weeks

Our 16-week Advanced Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy course is meticulously designed to provide you with a deep and thorough understanding of myofunctional therapy. Myo Circle is not just a mentorship program; it's a community of like-minded professionals who are dedicated to growth and excellence. We designed this program to provide the tools, knowledge, and support that myofunctional therapists need to excel in their practice.

MODULE 1

The Fundamentals

Build a strong clinical foundation by learning the essential anatomy and physiology of the orofacial system. This module covers dental landmarks, cranial bones, cranial nerves, muscles of mastication and the tongue, and the basics of Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders (OMDs).

Understanding structure and function is critical for identifying dysfunctional patterns and collaborating with airway-focused providers.

MODULE 2

Guidance Call

In this module, you will learn how to conduct an effective myofunctional therapy guidance call and understand its role within the evaluation process. We review the difference between guidance calls, clinical assessments, and functional assessments, while showing real consultation examples with Renata and other therapists.

This module helps you confidently guide prospective patients, educate families, and determine the next steps for care.

MODULE 3

Myofunctional Therapy Full Evaluation - Clinical Assessment

Learn how to perform a comprehensive clinical evaluation that identifies structural, functional, and airway-related factors affecting oral function. This module explores sleep and airway screening tools, sleep testing options, radiographic imaging such as CBCT, and detailed extraoral and intraoral examination techniques. By integrating these findings, you will learn how to recognize patterns, document clinical observations, and guide appropriate referrals within an interdisciplinary airway-focused team.

MODULE 4

Myofunctional Therapy Full Evaluation - Functional Assessment

Learn how to evaluate how the oral and facial muscles function during breathing, speaking, chewing, and swallowing. This module teaches you how to document functional patterns through video recordings, clinical measurements, and structured testing of tongue mobility, breathing, and swallowing coordination. By analyzing these findings, you will learn how to identify compensations, functional limitations, and patterns that guide individualized myofunctional therapy treatment planning.

MODULE 5

Myofunctional Therapy Exercises

Learn how to implement targeted myofunctional therapy exercises that improve tongue posture, oral muscle coordination, breathing patterns, and swallowing function. This module introduces foundational therapy recommendations, sensory awareness exercises, and therapy tools such as foam brushes, Myo Munchee, and lip taping. By organizing exercises around specific functional goals, you will learn how to build effective therapy programs that strengthen oral muscles, reinforce proper habits, and support long-term functional change.

MODULE 6

Therapy Sessions

Learn how to structure effective myofunctional therapy sessions from the first visit through graduation. This module covers session flow, exercise progression, patient coaching, and strategies to keep patients motivated and accountable throughout the therapy process. You will also learn how to track progress and adapt sessions to support consistent, lasting results.

MODULE 7

OMT Progress

Learn how to monitor patient progress through a structured treatment protocol that evaluates oral rest posture, tongue mobility, breathing, chewing, and swallowing over time. This module teaches you how to use clear functional benchmarks to determine when exercises should be adjusted, when patients are ready to advance, and when they are ready to graduate from therapy. By following a standardized progress system, you will be able to keep treatment focused, measurable, and results-driven.

MODULE 8

Swallowing Dysfunction & Tongue Thrust

Develop a deeper understanding of normal swallowing, feeding development, and swallowing dysfunction across the lifespan. This module helps you recognize tongue thrust, inefficient chewing, airway-related compensations, and the relationship between swallowing patterns, posture, and overall body stability. By learning to distinguish normal from dysfunctional patterns, you will be better prepared to identify when myofunctional therapy is appropriate and when interdisciplinary referral is needed.

MODULE 9

Oral Ties

Develop a deeper understanding of oral restrictions involving the lingual, labial, and buccal frena, and how they may influence feeding, speech, swallowing, airway health, and craniofacial development. This module teaches you to evaluate oral ties through both anatomy and function, understand classification systems and surgical considerations, and recognize the role of myofunctional therapy before and after release procedures. By approaching oral ties through an interdisciplinary and evidence-based lens, you will be better prepared to identify meaningful restrictions and support optimal functional outcomes.

MODULE 10

Oral Habits

Understand how prolonged oral habits can influence craniofacial growth, airway health, dental development, and oral function. This module helps you identify the difference between normal developmental sucking behaviors and habits that persist due to underlying issues such as airway obstruction, oral restrictions, sleep disturbance, or poor oral posture. By learning to evaluate the root cause of these habits, you will be better prepared to guide habit elimination, support functional change, and make appropriate interdisciplinary referrals.

MODULE 11

Palatal Expansion

Understand how palatal expansion can support craniofacial development, improve tongue space, and enhance nasal breathing and airway function. This module introduces airway-focused orthodontic principles, expansion appliances used in children and adults, and the difference between dental expansion and true skeletal expansion techniques such as MARPE and MSE. By learning how expansion influences facial growth, oral posture, and treatment planning, you will be better prepared to collaborate with orthodontic providers and support patients undergoing expansion.

MODULE 12

Sleep

Explore the relationship between oral function, airway stability, and sleep-disordered breathing through an airway-focused myofunctional lens. This module examines the role of the tongue, oral muscles, anatomy, and neuromuscular control in snoring and obstructive sleep apnea, while introducing evidence-based myofunctional therapy, sleep surgery concepts, and diagnostic tools such as DISE. By understanding both structural and functional contributors to sleep-disordered breathing, you will be better prepared to support interdisciplinary care and apply more individualized treatment strategies.

MODULE 13

TMD (Temporomandibular Disorders)

Explore temporomandibular disorders through a functional, airway-centered, and whole-body perspective. This module helps you understand TMJ anatomy, common TMD presentations, and the relationship between jaw pain, posture, cervical mechanics, breathing patterns, and airway dysfunction. By learning how to recognize contributing factors and collaborate with physical therapists, dentists, and other specialists, you will be better prepared to support patients with TMD through more comprehensive and individualized care.

MODULE 14

Orthognathic Surgery

Understand the role of orthognathic surgery in correcting skeletal discrepancies that affect airway function, jaw balance, facial symmetry, and oral function. This module explores surgical procedures, recovery considerations, and the essential role of myofunctional therapy before and after surgery to support healing, reduce compensation patterns, and retrain function. By learning how structure and function work together, you will be better prepared to support patients through surgical preparation, rehabilitation, and interdisciplinary care.

MODULE 15

Hypermobility

Explore how hypermobility and connective tissue disorders can influence oral function, airway stability, wound healing, and treatment outcomes. This module helps you recognize the unique presentation of hypermobile patients, understand how conditions such as EDS and HSD may affect tethered oral tissues, and adapt therapy and post-surgical care with greater precision and compassion. By taking a whole-body, interdisciplinary approach, you will be better prepared to support these complex patients safely and effectively.

MODULE 16

Early Childhood Development

Understand how airway health, sensory processing, primitive reflexes, and early oral function influence development in young children. This module explores play-based myofunctional strategies, the relationship between airway dysfunction and sensory regulation, and how retained primitive reflexes may affect posture, behavior, learning, and oral motor skills. By recognizing these early developmental patterns, you will be better prepared to support children with age-appropriate, individualized, and interdisciplinary care.

My biggest take away was how to do a full assessment.

Learning the importance of photos and videos, and what to be looking for in them. I had no idea how valuable they were. I enjoyed all the new exercises, but will need to go back and review a lot of them for their purpose.

Alex Clinton

Myofunctional Therapist- AOMT

After practicing in British Columbia for 10 years, I decided to return to Ontario to continue studying and building my practice.

These fields have been growing in momentum over the past few years, and I am constantly being asked by professionals and clients, where they can find more information, how they can integrate the information they have acquired, and how to find a professional who can provide these services?

Functional Oral Health was created to provide individuals and professionals with the resources and tools all under one roof.

I came to the realization early on in my career that many patients were feeling discouraged with standard recommendations and wanted to know how their oral health might be impacting their overall health. I then proceeded to train with some of the best airway and myofunctional therapists on the planet and was able to bring these perspectives to my practice. This allowed me the tools I needed to help my patients of all ages understand how these factors impact growth and development of the oral complex, including their impact on airway, breathing, chewing, speech, orthodontic development, and sleep issues.
